Today was D-Day for the tyres to arrive! Everyone, having had a ‘restful’ night’s sleep in the tents, was up early and after breakfast we all set about packing up. We were all nipping at the bit and when 10 am came and went and the tyres were nowhere to be seen, the team saddled up and left Nairobi and with it the headache and stress of the last two days. Once out of the Nairobi traffic, we all began to ‘reacclimatise’, our behinds becoming once more acquainted with their leathery counterparts. Our route took us past the west side of Mt Kenya, unfortunately it was shrouded in cloud and we were not given the opportunity to gaze upon the beautiful slopes of this majestic mountain. Lunch brought us to a very unique restaurant called the Trout Tree Restaurant, which is literally a restaurant in a tree that serves various dishes of trout. After a decent meal, one of our last for awhile, we set of down the road, not 20 km to the Equator. At the equator, we took numerous photos and observed the corriolus effect. It was then the last push to the Gaddisa Lodge, just north of Isiolo, we where plan to spend the night and prepare ourselves for our trip to Marsabit, which is said to have massive corrugations and large sand drifts.
Yes Paul, the tyres are not coming.

Hi Guys, hope your tyres "catch up" with you! I am sure they will. Otherwise I believe there are some tyre "specialists" in that part of the world who actually use wire to "sew" them up when all else fails! Have a great day.
