After a fantastic Tai dinner the night before, the team was very excited to be back on the bikes and after a 4:30 breakfast we set of down the road, leaving our arranged police escort behind. Surviving minor carbon monoxide poisoning and Tanzanian taxi drivers, we finally left Dar Es Salaam an hour and a half after departing. Our first stop of the day was Chalinze and after a hasty fill up, we were back on the road, extremely pleased to be driving through the Tanzanian countryside, away from all the traffic. 190 km’s down the road, we managed to pass by a restaurant that looked very promising, the team highly caffeine depleted did not hesitate and soon we were enjoying a good cup of coffee, very happy to be giving our bottoms a little rest. Unfortunately all the petrol stations in the area were empty and we were forced to drive another 20 km’s to the town of Korogwe to fill up. Then it was through the town of Same to Moshi, a small town nestled in the shadow of the great Kilimanjaro Mountain. Here we found a fantastic coffee shop and after parking the bikes, which was a small feat in itself, we settled down for yet another cup of coffee and some lunch. During our lunch, we managed to attract quite a lot of attention from some American students and other local diners; this led to quite a send off. It was then only 86 km till we arrived in Arusha, pulling into the New Arusha Hotel. The team is really glad to be back on the bikes, the spirits are high and we are eagerly awaiting our arrival in Nairobi, where we plan to get the bikes serviced and spend a day in the Masai Mara. I apologise for the lack of pictures, but unfortunately Craig’s camera decided to jump ship at 120 km/h.
